Why is GoFundMe in the trash zone?

After doing some research, I decided that GoFundMe just isn't the right option for me. One reason is that fundraisers generally need a strong or urgent reason behind them to get much attention, and I don't want to rely on that kind of approach.

I also came across concerns about fees and how much of the money raised actually reaches the person running the fundraiser. I don't remember all of the details from my original research, so I don't want to make claims I'm not completely sure about.

TL;DR: I did my research, and GoFundMe ended up in my trash zone because it doesn't really fit what I'm trying to do.
